RAPESEED MEAL

Rapeseed meal or canola meal in North America, Australia and some other countries, is the by-product of the extraction of oil from rapeseed. It is a protein-rich ingredient that is widely used to feed all classes of livestock. Worldwide production of rapeseed meal is second only to soybean meal.

Characteristics

  • Coarse powdery material.
  • Appearance in granules 8-10-12-14 mm.
  • Has a characteristic smell of fresh rape seed cake.
  • Has light brown with green shading to dark brown colour.

Uses

Rapeseed meal is used for feed purposes by direct injection into the diet of the animals and for feed production. The use of rapeseed meal in dairy farming leads to an increase in quantity and quality of the final product of increased milk yield and milk protein composition.
